This band is awesome live!

7/2/05-Lancaster PA

WHAT A DAY!

So my friend Teresa and I arrive at the stadium around 1pm.  We go and take out places in line behind a few other crazy people who thought sitting in the sun for HOURS UPON HOURS would be great fun.  Guess what?  IT'S NOT!  Anyway, we take our places and realize that we're both starving and there is nothing close by enough.  So I hop in the truck, grab some junk food and head back to the stadium, only to be told the close parking spot I originally had was for VIP only.  GRRRR.  So I get back in the truck and move around to the back and walk back around to my friend.

So, I happened to see David from Jam Productions and was chatting with him about many different things and he was giving us updates on what was going on with the guys in Philly.  Obviously Live 8 was this day, and let me say I think they kicked major ass here in Philly!  Way to go guys!  I knew you could do it!

Back in line I am, waiting, burning, waiting and burning some more.  Then the gates open and we FLY, of course after grabbing 2 beers, and get to about the 2nd row.

We wait and burn some more.  By now, I'm burnt to a crisp and in pain from my lower back down.  Kept trying to stretch out, but that was IMPOSSIBLE!

Then Randy Coleman comes on.  Cute and all, but I was so damned tired of waiting all day, I wanted to kick his rear off the stage and get to the reason I am there and burnt!

We Will Rock You intro's and the guys make their way over and onto the stage.  Once again, I'm a happy girl.  The guys looks great and sounded much better than I have heard them recently.  There was a lot of play between the guys on stage.  I was laughing so hard at some of that.  Some fights broke out, what can you expect!

They played Rock On and once again I was coming out of my skin.  I'm loving that one!

So the show goes on and completely taught those Amish people what they've been missing!

I managed to get lucky enough, again, to meet up with Rick A and get a photo, as well as Phil.  Both very sweet and gracious enough to let me get a photo with them.  I knew they were exhausted.  Saw Malvin again.  I get a big ol kick out of him.  Big sweetheart!  I spoke with Lauren for a bit and noticed this beautiful tattoo on her back shoulder that extended around to the front of the shoulder.  I can't imagine that pain!  I finally got a chance to show off my own DL tattoo on my back and she thought it was beautiful.  We had  nice little chat and then I spoke with Rick for a nano second. That was ok, I understood time was short for them.

Then we drove him and lived happily ever after.  That was a great show for being my last one of this tour.  Again, thank you so much for everything guys!

The End

7/1/05:  Camden

Well, as we all know by now.  This show was canceled due to EXTREME weather conditions.  NOT joking.  It was so bad!  I was lucky enough to have gotten soundcheck passes from a local radio station.  They brought us up to one of the sky boxes and gave us free pizza, water and soda!  We waited quite a while for them to show up.  They were in Philly doing soundcheck for Live 8.  Which according to Malvin did not go well.  They were having problems with the sound and Joe wound up really beating the hell out of his voice.  After speaking to Malvin about that, he stated that Joe's voice is really shot and he needs a break!  But anyway.  Malvin set up for us winners to have a personal soundcheck in the sky box.  The guys brought up guitars and had a blast.  They did requests and whatever they felt like doing!  They even played Wasted!  Joe wasn't permited to sing, although it would take super glue for him to shut up.  He sang very very little and did appologize for not speaking much to us.  Rick A went and spoke to his Raven winners and took some photos with them and signed a few things.  Then he as well as the others were rushed out. Turns out part of the roof blew down during the severe weather and some equipment was damaged.  They are not sure yet what can be done to reschedule this show.  Hopefully they do!  But anyway, after we were told to leave the skybox about 7pm, we went down to the buses.  Turns out the guys are signing for people!  Perfect!  So my friend and I went over and got everyone's autograph, even Bryan Adams.  All the guys were so sweet and wonderful to come over to us.  They all come over twice!    I was lucky enough to chat for a few with each.  Told them my thank you for everything and so on.  Joe even showed off his Born Late 59 tat.  Very funny.  Some pics will be up soon on this little show they did for us.  I feel very fortunate to have been there.  Not often these guys do that sort of thing!

June 24, 2005 Wilkes Barre,PA

I wish I had more of an interesting story, but, I don't.  Some of it will be interesting, some, well, won't be.  But it is my story and hell I'll gonna share it!

I'll start from way back.  I originally wasn't going to go to this show if I did not get great seats.  That was first and foremost before finding someone to go with me.  But I did have an idea of who would go.  But anyway.  I managed to get first row tickets, all the way on Phil's side.  I wanted as close to center as I could, but didn't get those no matter how I tried.  So, you make do right?  So, after getting the tickets, and Tesla was going to play, I asked my friend Lori to go with me.  Well don't you know it, she gets pregnant and as violent morning sickness and can't go.  Oh did I mention she told me the Wednesday before the show, which was on Friday!  AHHH.  So I call my friend Janine and she is willing to go, even though she is going to the Camden show with me a week later.  So, instead of Janine watching my kids while I was in Wilkes Barre, Lori was going to watch them.  Ha.  Then I call Lori to go over the babysitting stuff, she tells me she just got back from the hospital because of severe dehydration!  By the way, this is Friday morning she tells me this!  OH NO!  So, I call my mom and she comes over to do it.  My mom had breast cancer recently, had it removed and is now going through radiation, so I don't ask her much to watch the kids because she is very tired much of the time.  Anyway, she comes over and watches them instead of Lori.

So Janine gets to my house at 3:30pm and we jump in the truck as fast as we can and speed off for Wilkes which is 2 hours from Philadelphia.  I hate driving, but will for them.  We arrive at the arena at about 5:30-5:45 and park my truck, and wait patiently for the doors to open so I can raid the shirts and use the bathroom, to fix the makeup job I did.  Girls gotta look good in the first row right?  So doors open, shirt purchased, bathroom stop done, then down to our seats.  I spoke with Malvin backstage for a bit, was luckily given 2 backstage passes for the show, (my first ever!!!!!) and off we went back to our seats.

Telsa took the stage shortly after getting back and I've never seen them peform.  But man where they good!  Great choice to open with!  I did take a few shots of those, some of them came out better than some of the DL photos!  As soon as Tesla is off the stage, the crew bolts out and starts the set up for DL.  I've never seen faster work in my life.

We Will Rock you comes on, the crowds cheers.  Knowing the guys we all came to see will soon be taking the stage.  I naturally stand up and watch the side where they were coming from.  Giddy like a school girl is all I can say when I saw them walking up and taking their places.

Action starts it off.  Lights, camera's flashing and of course 5 of the greatest guys are up there tearing up the stage!  Phil, the big ol ham he is, struttin his stuff and making sure we all noticed!  If we didn't he made sure to do it again!  What a flipping ham he is!  The song that night that BLEW me away was Rock On.  Holy Mother!  Joe singing alone, then the music starts, I about fell to my knees when I heard them play.  That was the sound DL to me is.  HARD ROCK!  I can not wait to hear it again.  Hearing it live is still giving me the chills.  Gods of War was amazing as well.  At the end of the song when all those gunshots and such are going on, Rick jumped up from his seat, threw his arm up in the air, drum stick flying backwards, he kept that fist in the air till the song was done.  Also, for those offended by the George Bush pictures, it was only supposed to be one time very quick.  Being that it was the first night using that song and footage, something happened at the machine that caused it to keep happening.  Major glitch.  But according to Malvin it was not meant in any way to offend people.  It was a major mistake to run it over and over, once again that was a big computer glitch!  But, since so many were upset by it, they removed it all together and put in photos of all world leaders.  The song, from Mal's mouth, is not about killing people, it's abour promoting peace.  How war itself is bad.  Not troops or people.  But off that subject.  Joe reached down during the show and took a beer from someone, took a sip and handed it back to her.  Now I was thinking the same thing, maybe i should hand him a beer, but....NOOOO, I drank all mine!

I didn't get to see the screen cause I had  a large rigging thing in front of me, blocking my view.  I did sneak a peek a few times, very cool what they did when I saw it.

They closed the show with PSSOM.  I love hearing that live.   The end came and Joe came over to wave, and slap hands.  He slaps the hands of a few people next to me then stops.  Looks up and is waving to the other people.  Here I am big fool, holding my hand out closer.  He slaps it with such force I almost slapped the person behind me!  Why so hard man???!!!

Show ends, and my friend and I are told to go to section 114 with the other people with passes and wait.  Well we did.  Then a few minutes later everyone behind us was GONE!  No one told us they were taking us back now.  They just left us!!  OMG!  Now what!  I ran up the steps and asked where they went.  Of course I got, I don't know.  I ask again, I don't know.  And yet again, I don't know.  3 people and no one saw a group of people with passes!  So I run back down the steps and talk to another guy with a headset and tell him.  He starts to yell at me asking me why I wasn't sitting in the seats.  I said we were then everyone left us there!  WTF!  So anyway, after arguing with him, we were taken back.  We go to the catering room and wait patiently for anyone to come in.  Mal stops in and drops off water and Gateroide and cups for the 15 or so people in the room.

Rick A comes in and takes  seat with the Raven Drum winners.  He was sitting behind me maybe 3-4 feet away.  He looked drained and his fingers looked torn up.  Had a bandaid on one finger.  I can see why it's torn up though.  Never gets a break!  So he chats with the RD people for a while, the leaves. HUH?  Just left and never came back in!!  OH NO.  My only chance, gone.  Lovely. Well, then Viv walks in, places his cup on the table my friend and I are sitting at.  All that came out of my mouth when I looked up at him was "Hi, How are you?"  he says hi, I'm good.  I kind of felt he was looking at me strangely, but could just be tired.  I've never met him before so maybe I'm just reading to much into it and that is how he always looks..LOL.  So he chats with these 2 guys for a bit then turns back to us and I ask him to sign my CD, Best Of.  He looks and sees Mal's autograph on there and he laughs.  "You got Mal to sign it?" I said of course I did, why not!  He then asked where I got this CD set from cause it's an import.  I told him got it at a local store here, they had a few, so I grabbed one months ago.  So he signed it for me, then signed a few things for my friend.  Then I asked for a photo, he says sure!  So my friend grabbed the camera, I walked over to him and put an arm around his waist.  Silly as it seems, his shirt was so soft!  He's lucky I didn't rub him to death!  Anway, he turns to look at me and says, you smell good, I said, thanks you too.  Mind you after I said it, I realized I didn't smell anything.  Just hoping he showered and he thinks that was what I was talking about!  So we got a photo, and I took my friends as well.  I just realized something.  Everytime someone takes a photo with me, they put their hand on my shoulder and when they get a photo with my friend, a hand goes to her waist.  Weird.  And we move on from here.  I say thank you, he says no problem, then moves on to chat with the others.  They all seemed to know him personally.  Lucky people.  Then he was called out because everyone had boarded the bus.  WHAT???  Everyone is leaving????  OH NO!!! I was SOO hoping to meet Joe!  But, didn't get to.  Only got to sit in the same room as RIck A and meet Mal and Viv.  I'm so lucky I got to do that in itself!  I never expected any of this!  Then Viv was off and left.

I was very dissapointed, but still very happy about who I did meet!  But wish I could have mustered up a conversation with Viv.  Even for a minute, but my mind was blank of questions!  How could it be!  I spent years going over this in my head and now it's gone.  I'm a fool I tell you!

So my friend and I leave and get back to my truck.  As I'm pulling out, trying to figure out where I go to leave the parking lot, I see both tour busses facing me in the same lane!  OH NO!  I was blocking them from leaving.  So I backed up my truck, the guy flashes his lights at me and I pull out of the lot quickly, with them right behind.  We turn the wrong way out of the place and have to U turn around to go back.  By this time the busses are now in front of us.  Man they move quick!  I have a V-8 truck and they blew me away!  But we weren't going in the same direction.  Us in one, them in another.  And so my night is done.  Only to do it again, at Camden and Lancaster.  Maybe then I can grab Joe, stuff him in my pocket and take him home with me.  Yeah, I know it's a long shot, but I can still think it!

The End.
